Nebula

Boy meets girl
And tequila
The roof is lit on fire

He lies down and counts
The stars. She lies down
And counts the stars too

He starts at Orion and walks
Backwards, meets her at
Pleiades.

Together they form a nebula
A constellation of comets
Burning brightly

But for a moment.

  1. ‘Love is like light and there are two kinds…the bursting fireworks of the moment and the solid fixed stars that sometimes become obscured in the heavens; but are always there, year after year, for a lifetime’- Ann Rinaldi. 😊

The magic of new and perhaps young love is splendidly portrayed here Doc.
These beautiful lines tell a romantic tale of just how consuming, intoxicating (depicted by the word ‘Tequila’) and shortlived love or shall I term it passion, can tend to get when two hearts come together in a knot…pretty much tangled up and start to beat as one and the same, even if only for a spell. 😀

One would expect that love tales such as this, that starts out very promising…infernal; would go on and on but it’s usually not the case. ‘At some point, surmises Taylor Swift; we grow out of being attracted to that flame that burns us over and over again’, or as some anonymous person puts it, ‘the challenge in love is not igniting the flame but in keeping the flame burning through the darkest times’.
It’s always such a sad thing when the flames go out and are right extinguished. 🙁

‘Nebula’ though sad is dreamy and spellbinding! 😄 And as Julio Iglesias opines and I quote…’Love comes to everybody in many different ways. Attraction is always the thing, no? But love must be more than that. It must be magic’, and that’s exactly what you were well able to achieve with this offering…magic! ❤ Welldone! 😉😎

  2. A raging inferno: that’s how it always feels at first. It doesn’t always last forever like we believe it will, does it?
And yet, sometimes, we know it will be momentary even before it starts. Still we allow ourselves to hope, we choose to be selectively blind, we chose to lose ourselves in the sweetness, we choose to live for the moment.

    1. Isn’t it the best way to live – in the moment? Fairy tales also lets us believe that the raging inferno can lasts forever. And hoping for the happily ever after isn’t such a bad thing, is it?
