Sharps and Flats

on

I.

Pain. Rain
Everywhere, pelting.
Welts showing up, angry;
Wet moss slippery
Underfoot. Puddles.
I am standing in the midst
Of a flood. Blood everywhere.
Tears. Blinding tears;
Torrential rainfall in this
Rain forest that has me
Trapped within it.

II.

Bruised body aching,
Housing broken soul;
Blood leaking from sweat
Pores. Bloody tears streaming
Down blinded eyes.
Multiple faults – defective
Product.
Factory recall.

III.

I usually fill this void with
Mundane distractions, holding
Fast for dear life, hovering
On the brink of desolation.

IV.

I’m weightless,
Weighing the meaning of life
On a beam balance.
My bone is a bird’s,
Made for flight.

V.

My canteen holds no water
Not a drop of life remaining to
Stave off death.
Sometimes it takes the eyes
Of others to feel
But then it is hard to believe
What the eyes do not see.
I stand on this threshold an
Unbeliever.

VI.

Healing starts with chaotic notes
Fingers deftly moving
Across black and white keys
In sharps and flats.
The oil of music massaging
Knotted muscles and
Sore mind.

Sharps and flats re-echoes that saying by the Legendary raggae music performing artiste Bob Marley, when he surmised this….’One good thing ’bout music…. when it hits you; you feel no pain’! 😁

These perfect lines with their attendant analogies and imageries tell a quite compelling tale! Something ’bout this masterpiece reminds of a woman’s journey into motherhood and that’s just me viewing these scenarios in an entirely different angle than may be originally intended by the Narrator! πŸ˜†

Picture this Doc…….a pregnant woman falls into labor and while she travails as she goes through the motions; willing to hit the 10cm mark in what’s known as the dilation process just so that the labor process proper kicks in, she experiences contractions that intensifies in ‘sharps and flats’ by the seconds, searing and rippling through her entire being!
As time wears on, she’s ready to birth her baby and with a final push, the arrival of her newborn’s announced by what I’d like to call ‘music’!😁
Now, this particular musical compose that’s amplified with each new note belted out by the ‘musician’; may not be considered ‘music’ by the maestros…..the Mozarts, Pavarottis, and the Bocellis of this world who are connoisseurs of music, but to that woman; its the best ever composition that’d bring about instant healing for her at that moment, cause it signifies life and makes all of that unbearable….unspeakable pain she’d passed through…. absolutely worth it! πŸ˜€
So yeah, ‘Healing starts in chaotic notes’- Temitope Ogundare, author Sharps and Flats! πŸ˜‚
Bottomline and the moral of mine ramblings……the cries and shrieks of a newborn baby are ‘music’ to the ears of its mum wherein every iota of pain’s plain forgotten! 😁

I remain completely transfixed by the beauty your super-creative mind boasts of in no small measure! Your writes and compositions stimulate the mind and evoke real feelings and emotions! I salute you Doc; much respect! πŸ‘ŠπŸ˜

This: “I remain completely transfixed by the beauty your super-creative mind boasts of in no small measure! Your writes and compositions stimulate the mind and evoke real feelings and emotions! I salute you Doc; much respect!”, music to my heart – not chaotic notes, but a well composed and masterfully delivered symphony. Thank you very much Ma.

Your perspective to the whole poem is….fascinating.
