Don’t wait up

Words are cheap,

A dime a dozen

Don’t let your heart stay frozen

Mourning a mirage

Don’t wait up,

Love isn’t coming that way.

Affections are transient,

They vary with the season

Quit giving yourself reasons

To hold on to shadows

Don’t wait up

Love isn’t coming that way.

Feelings definitely do fade

Nothing was meant to last forever

That person you believe you belong together

Sometimes isn’t committed to sticking with you

Don’t wait up

Love isn’t coming that way again.

So what do you do with all the love?

Barn-ful of feelings reserved just for the one

Hours of labour spent cultivating the magic

Is love really this tragic?

Not at all, but life sometimes deals hard blows

Don’t wait up

Love isn’t coming that way again.

Take the love that you possess

Hold it dear, cherish them

Let it be the blanket to keep you warm

When the cold winds of hurt swarm

But don’t wait up

Love isn’t coming that way again.

  1. Ok doc this is a beautiful one. I think its both harsh and kind at the same time. The addressee of the message is being advised to wake up fast and stop nursing feelings that won’t be reciprocated till the long run. It’s the kind of message that some need to hear but don’t want to hear. At any rate, it’s a wake up call that must be given serious thought. Well done Topazo.

  2. Oh Wow! And that’s how for the first time in aeons, I was rendered totally speechless and my heart…….it just kinda plummeted right into my stomach! The horror! 💩😾

I totally agree with Zee gurl on this one….. this Narrator’s cruel, sooo bad to the bones, that its really easy to see that being subtle, tactful and pulling the diplomacy card’s definitely NOT in the cards! He/she just lays it out on the table….’Evuls’! 😈😆

‘Don’t wait up’, I find a very honest and blunt phrase! Erich Maria Remarque says to ‘keep things at arm’s length…if you let anything come too near, you naturally want to hold on to it and well, there’s nothing that a man can hold on to’! So am guessing the Narrator’s correct in the use of the word ‘mirage’! While I agree that some feelings do fade away, some actually do last several life times…for always!

I had mixed feelings with this one Doc,….I laughed, cried and then, I was simply just left bewildered, dazed at the effrontery of the Meanie, that’s the Narrator like REALLY??? 😩😨😆

A crazy insane and awesome offering Sir, you rocked it senseless, by golly! D-Dang! 😂😂😂

    1. love will come from another place….different from where the person being addressed was looking at….
Possibly, the narrator may be speaking from experience or just from a position of superior knowledge of the world and the way it works…..

thank Dr Swag…you know I love reading your comments? they have a certain…what’s the word? Swag…
