My Writing Process Blog Tour

on

Seun says he scams people into thinking that he can actually write and then he tags me as a ‘fantastic’ writer.
I laugh.

He is an amazing writer and has a way with words that sucks you in, if you don’t believe, read ‘Saving Dapo’

So, there is a writing process blog tour going on and it is my turn to answer a few questions and then tag amazing writers too who will in turn answer these questions and tag three other writers and on and on goes the process.

Without further ado, to the questions

1. What I am working on

I wish I had an elaborate answer and many things that will wow you but I don’t. I am currently focusing on building my blog and attracting more traffic. Also, I am trying to improve my craft and honing my writing skills.

I do have a plan of publishing a collection of poems and short stories soon, if I can get my act together in setting up that meeting with a publisher.

I have several other short series in the pipeline too

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

First of all, I do not think I write in any particular genre. I am a jack of all trade and write as I am inspired.

Every individual has a unique voice and we tell stories or write poems in a style that reflects who we are. I think I am still in that process of finding a voice that is unique to me.

My readers however are able to distinguish my voice from another’s and that suggests that there is a way I write that is different from the next writer.

3. Why I write what I do

Hmmm. I really have to try to be concise now.

I love writing! I can’t not write. It is a healing process, and it’s therapeutic. It is an avenue to discover myself and grow.

I write because I want to have a say, to make an impact, to touch someone out there. To connect.

I write because I want to be relevant. Words have such great power and if used right, it can change the world. Words are immortal and whoever bears it has donned immortality.

I write because I have to. It is a life force…

Okay. Moving on…

4. How my writing process works

A word. A phrase. An image, or yet a flitting thought hovering around the edge of consciousness as I undulate between sleep and wakefulness…

A story or poem is born.

It happens sometimes at the strangest of places- in the shower or at the oddest of time- right in the middle of a busy day, and I have to quell the urge to run for a writing pad. Sometimes, I rehearse the idea severally in my head till it sticks and I can find the time to put it down.

Getting the story or poem from idea to completion is a mystery. The words seem to come alive and take up a will and directs the flow and then I keep following till it is time for the final full stop. It is fun to watch.

That is it about me.

Behold the three amazing writers…

Trust me when I say ‘Amazing’

justin

My name is Justin. I am a geek with an agricultural degree and I blog
at A.g(r)eek. I am unconventional, refreshing (if I do say so myself)
and I’m generally the kind of writer you want to read if you want
someone who maintains quality while ensuring inclusiveness with the fluidity of the pen.

buqie

I am Bukola Okunola, a simple girl who loves to laugh. I love to read and write too. I try to write about things/issues the way I see them. I consider myself an extraordinary child of an extraordinary God so I think it just makes sense that I write about this extraordinary God. I love girls/ladies/women too so I write about them. Nope I’m not a sexist or anything.
I studied sciences in school, I love Arts and right now, I’m on the commercial side of life.
Finally, I love pictures, nature, serenity and anything beautiful. And yes, I’m a water melon addict

pearlosibu

Pearl Osibu is a graduate of Agric Economics who is afraid of soil and animals. She cannot save money to save her life! A fashion designer, a writer when the Muses are kind, and an all-round troublemaker on social media. Her desires are simple—to live happy and die pretty. The former is achievable, the latter hardly likely. She lives and works in Lagos.

Wowzer! Is that Justin, the Vunderkind? The one I like to refer to as ‘One of a Kind’ or simply ‘Wonder Kind’? I’ve fast gained a notoriety for giving aliases to awesome writers, so Justin; that’s yours right there! I hope you like and accept it. Lolz

I also see ‘Buqielicious’, looking smoking ‘Hawt’! Who woulda thought that we both share a likeness for water melon, the ‘jiggerfruit’?! Will look in on your blog sometime.

Pearl, I love your name. I’m trying to reconcile how it is, that an Agric-economist like you, is terrified of soil and animals. That’s mind boggling! I’m fascinated by your persona and will look in on you too, sometime soon!

And to my brilliant Doc and poet, if ‘the’ Seun Odukoya says you’re a fantastic writer, biko; who are you to argue to the contrary??? Being modest now, are we? LMAO.

I wish y’all the best in all of your pursuits. Y’all Rock Pieces! Lolz
