it is gray today
it is gray today

Today is dark,
All around is gloom;
The sun is ill
And has refused to rise
From its bed;
Perhaps, it’s had
Too many a drink last night?

Today is dark,
The skies are gray;
Taking away all
The cheer
And leaving behind
Nothing but long
Faces and sighs.

Today is dark,
The field is bare;
Devoid of cackling voices
Of children playing;
The cacophony of sounds
That is the symphony
Of nature.

Today is dark,
I cannot see
Bright colours or
I cannot hear without an aid.
Where in the world are my
Lens and aid?

is it gray?….

...or is it what you see?
…or is it what you see?

    Meanwhile, this line blew me away, ‘the Sun is ill’. Epic! Love its simplicity. Kudos!

    A beautifully composed gloomy piece. No one does it better than you Doc, you’re a natural and poems of this nature, you do so effortlessly and with astounding perfection too. Love the illustrations, so in synch with the theme. Can’t help laughing out loud at the possibility of the sun, (that’s way too hot even for itself); lying too ill in bed from a hangover, having had too much to drink. That was very hilarious, innovative and well thought out. You do great always, buddy; when you get into your elements especially where poems like these are concerned. I twale for you, Sir; Respect! LOL!
